Kalyan Corraya's adventures abroad
Last year was full of life changing experiences for Kalyan Corraya, adding different milestones to his young years. Following the deadly earthquake in Nepal, where the actor had gone for the filming of “Holiday,” he went to spend his Christmas vacations in Australia. His visit to Australia marked his first trip to the land down under, and the young actor is set to return to Australia next year to work on some projects.
My main aim was to meet my friends, and to also see how Christmas was celebrated there,” Kalyan explained, “Things like Boxing Day- these are things I have always heard about but had not experienced until the end of last year.” Kalyan also had time to soak up more culture and attended some of the most happening events. “Another motivation for going there was to attend the Stereosonic music festival and also Ed Sheeran's show. Many well known musicians were at the festival, such as Armin Van Buuren.” Apart from enjoying the holidays, Kalyan also attended two work meetings and also spoke about his future projects in the pipeline. “I could have had more projects lined up, but unfortunately my visit was cut short due to visa limitations,” he said. The actor plans to return to Australia next year to begin shooting.
However, the positive experiences were preceded by an incident traumatic to people across the subcontinent. The actor was present at the epicenter during the Nepal earthquake last April. “When it had begun we were filming the final scene of a TV play,” Kalyan said, “when all of a sudden everything began to shake. It took us a while to understand what was happening, but by then it was too late. We were all flung to the ground and had to grab at whatever we could to stay put and alive. When we walked out, everything was obliterated. A statue had crashed down right where our van was parked, and had destroyed three cars and spared ours. We were able to help other tourists along the way by providing transport. We were very lucky to come out of it alive.”
The star added that despite the disastrous incident, he enjoyed his trip. “We stayed at a place where we had a fantastic view of the mountains, and the whole experience had been quite breathtaking."
