Patty Jenkins ignites a new ray of hope
The director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins has been advocated for strengthening the opportunities surrounding the women in the industry while she was presented with the Women in Motion 2018 Award at Festival de Cannes.
Launched in 2015 by Kering (an international luxury group), in partnership with the Festival de Cannes, the award recognises the involvement of women in the film industry, on either side of the camera.
The presentation took place during the 'Women in Motion' dinner, where she expressed her excitement about all the stories and films that attempted to bring about a positive change in the film arena and the world.
Wonder Woman was the first superhero movie with a female leading role since Elektra in 2005, and Patty Jenkins is the first female director to helm a DC Comics movie. According to the organisers, she made considerable progress in the fight for gender equality, which makes her worthy of the recognition.
