Internationally acclaimed director Mostafa Sarwar Farooki is gearing up for his next film, Shonibaar Bikel (Saturday Afternoon), a hostage drama based on a terrorist attack. “This is a really important and special film for me. I hope it turns out to be equally special for all Bangladeshis, no matter what party or ideology they belong to,” asserts Farooki. Shonibaar Bikel, a Bangladesh-Germany joint production, is the first film in a trilogy helmed by the director. It is produced by Abdul Aziz from Jaaz Multimedia and Farooki from Chabial. Anna Katchko of Tandem Productions (Germany) is serving as the co-producer. Recently on social media, Jaaz Multimedia unveiled new posters of Shonibaar Bikel, featuring Zahid Hasan and Nusrat Imrose Tisha, two of the film's stars.
Shonibaar Bikel takes its cue from the brutal terrorist attack at the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka. Alongside Zahid and Tisha, the film stars Palestinian actor Eyad Hourani, Indian actor Parambrata Chatterjee along with Iresh Zaker, Mamunur Rashid, Nader Chowdhury, Intekhab Dinar, Gousul Alam Shaon and others from Bangladesh. No release date has been set for the film yet.
