Promising artist Satyananda Paik's second solo painting exhibition titled Peaceful Reflection of Nature is underway at Drik Gallery. Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda inaugurated the show on July 11. Renowned artist Professor Jamal Ahmed, artist, poet and critic Zahid Mustafa and climate change specialist of UNDP AKM. Mamunur Rashid attended the inaugural ceremony as special guests.
The artist has nostalgic childhood memories circling his home nearing the coastal area of the Sundarbans. He closely observes the life and nature, flora and fauna and various animals at his birthplace. He is also the witness of many natural calamities like the Sidr, Aila, river erosion and flood. The unique beauty, diversity and transformation of nature are the real inspiration for Satyananda's artistic journey.
For his art practice, he has used natural elements like dilapidated and trampled waste materials and sand. Burning sand at various temperatures he has attributed a variety of colours and made innovative artworks. “I have tried my best to represent the nature and landscapes through the sand works. I don't know how much I have become successful in my endeavour,” says Satyananda.
The exhibition, opening from 3pm to 8pm daily, will conclude on July 18.
