Oriental Art Department's annual exhibition underway
The weeklong annual exhibition of the Department of Oriental Art, Faculty of Fine Art of University of Dhaka (DU), displays artworks by teachers and students of the department for visitors at Zainul Gallery 1 and 2.
In recognition of their outstanding work, six students from the department received awards at the opening ceremony on October 1, where DU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman presented the awards .
Shaily Shrabonti, a graduate student, bagged the Award for Best Medium for her piece Kath Putuler Kotha while Samina Zaman, an MFA (final year) student, received the Award for Experimental Work for her mixed media work Anticipation-1.
A first-year student, Raisa Moazzem and a second-year student, Joyosree Goswami received the Shilpi Shawkatuzzaman Smriti Puroshkar and Shilpi Aminul Islam Smriti Puroshkar respectively.
Graduate student, Saurav Ghosh won the Shilpi Rashid Chowdhury Smriti Puroshkar, while MFA (final year) student, Shahnaz Akter Pinki received the Shilpi Shafiqul Amin Smriti Puroshkar.
A total of 105 artworks are on display at the show including 95 pieces by 40 students and 10 paintings by teachers. The exhibition will continue till October 6 daily from 11am to 8pm.
