Like last year, 23 artists of the 1979 batch of the Faculty of Fine Art (FFA), University of Dhaka (DU), held a group art exhibition titled, Phirey Dekha, at Zainul Gallery of FFA, DU. Renowned artists Professor Rafiqun Nabi inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest on March 8. Former and present deans of FFA, Professor Abul Barq Alvi and Nisar Hossain graced the inaugural event as special guests.
Hosted by artist, poet and critic Zahid Mustafa, noted artists Afrozaa Jamil Konka, and Selim Ahmed spoke on behalf of the batch of 1979 at the inaugural ceremony.
The participating artists displayed their artworks on diverse media like acrylic, mixed media, sculptures, ceramics and more.
Nature in its multifarious elements and expressions, landscape, folk themed works, portraits, semi-abstract and feminine faces are the dominating subjects of the paintings on display. Several geometric artworks, ceramic paintings and sculptures had conspicuous connotations of contemporary approaches and innovative art languages.
The exhibition concluded yesterday with the spirit of showcasing new styled artworks in the days to come.
