Dhaka Art Week concludes tomorrow
The four-day (February 6-9) long Dhaka Art Week 2019 is now underway at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Planning Minister M A Mannan inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest on February 6. The exhibition showcases an array of artworks by 130 renowned and promising artists of Bangladesh and India.
It is interesting to note that Raiyaan Mahbub, a young art enthusiast and the CEO of Art Hawk, has mainly organised the event. Born in Bangladesh, Raiyaan is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Economics from Melbourne University, Australia. He has spent his savings for organising the exhibition.
The display includes artworks by masterful and renowned Bangladeshi artists like Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, S M Sultan, Rafiqun Nabi, Monirul Islam, Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Hashem Khan, Kalidas Karmakar, Mohammad Eunus, Rokeya Sultana, Farida Zaman, Malay Bala, Dulal Chandra Gain and others. A painting by renowned Indian artist M F Husain is also on display at the gallery.
Both prominent and promising artists of Bangladesh responded to the organisers, and submitted their artworks to make the exhibition successful.
An open mic session took place yesterday, where Bangladeshi performers presented poems and songs in a cultural programme. The exhibition, open from 11 am to 8 pm daily, will conclude tomorrow.
