Art Festival Exhibition at Zainul Gallery today

The Art Festival 2019 Gazipur was held from 27-30 March 2019 at Bhawal Mirzapur Haji Jamir Uddin School & College, Gazipur. The festival featured an art camp, art exhibition, folk art & craft fair, cultural programme among other activities. The outcome of the art festival will be showcased at the exhibition to be held at Zainul Gallery, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka at 5 pm today. All are cordially invited to attend the inaugural ceremony of the art exhibition that is open from 11 am to 8 pm daily until April 22.

Renowned elocutionist, thespian and cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, will grace the inaugural ceremony as chief guest. Eminent artist Professor Rafiqun Nabi, Professor Nisar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, Sudipto Mukerjee, Country Director of UNDP Bangladesh and Tamanna Tahmina Tanji, Director, Asrotex Group, will attend the inaugural ceremony as special guests. Md Mohsin, Advisor, Art Festival 2019 Gazipur, and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, will preside over the programme. Renowned artist Professor Mohammad Eunus is the convener while award winning artist and Assistant Professor Harun-ar-Rashid Tutul is the curator of the festival.

In stark contrast to the city-based, gallery-oriented art practice, this festival stands out in many aspects including its ability of community engagement, decentralising and diffusing art, and creating a humane generation by exposing people to their own artistic spirit. The festival was supported by The Daily Star, Channel i, UNDP, UN WOMEN, JICA, Asrotex Group, Max Group and Berger.
