Dipa's solo show at Shantiniketan

Promising Bangladeshi artist Mahbuba Yasmin Dipa's first solo exhibition titled “Pink Myth of Hell” was held last month at Ratan Palli, Shantinikatan, India. Chhayaghar Art Space arranged the week long exhibition that attracted a good number of art lovers and audience.

Arpan Mukherjee, Associate Professor of Printmaking Department of Visva Bharati University; Aditi Ganiv Sanwar and Prashanta Firingi, both Assistant Professors of the same department; Nilanjan Bandyopadhyay, a writer and Raj Mallik, Assistant Registrar of Visva Bharati University jointly inaugurated the exhibition that featured 17 artworks on two series -- “Pink Myth of Hell” and “Through the analogy” by the artist.

In her artwork the artist has creatively expressed her protest and reaction against age-old practices like superstition in the guise of religion, male chauvinism along with the discriminatory treatment of  women, all of which appear hellish to the artist who intentionally attributes the colour “pink” as opposed to  femininity.
