Bengal Art Lounge hosts an art exhibition “The InvisiBellas” based on a street art project that aims to shed light on gender-based inequality. The exhibition is the outcome of a partnership between Dhaka Hub, Global Shapers in association with Bengal Foundation. The project is supported by Edward M. Kennedy center for Public Service and the Arts, and Tradexcel Graphics ltd.

Showcasing wall paintings and drawings, the show was inaugurated on March 19 by, Ann B. McConnell, director, American Center, and Rezwan Rahman, chairman, Tradexcel Graphics ltd. It will run till April 9.

The first phase of the InvisiBellas project took place in the Notun Bazar area of the capital, where 15 young artists painted a 100 feet wall to promote gender equality through art. An awareness raising effort, this project aimed to address issues which lead to gender oppression and encourage a community free from this anomaly. Towards this end, the local community of the area has been encouraged to engage with the project. The participating artists have each mentored one child of a local school to help them produce drawings related to the theme.

Bengal Art Lounge will exhibit the outcome of this first phase, during which participating artists and children have touched upon a number of pressing gender issues. Often ignored, these subjects range from the trauma of acid burn survivors to child marriage or the neglected role of the domestic help.

The participating artists are Amit Ashraf , Dibarah Mahboob , Kazi Istela Imam , Liza Hasan , Mahenaz Chowdhury , Maleena Dhrity Gomez , Manik N Ratan ,Nuhash Humayun,  Nuzhat Tabassum , Saiq'a S. Chowdhury , Sayeef Mahmud , Syed Rashad Imam Tanmoy , Tanzia Haq and
Wasi Ahmed.

The exhibition will remain open daily from 12-8pm .
