A three-day long Poush Mela was held in Barisal over the last week. Jatiyo Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad, Barisal Unit arranged the programme for the first time in the district.

Aminul Islam Khan, Additional Secretary of Education Ministry inaugurated the festival.  At the programme, traditional songs, dance and theatre were presented at the festival. Traditional cakes (pitha) and house hold handicrafts were also available at the programme.

A large number of visitors thronged the festival on all three days. At the closing session, Deputy Commissioner of Barisal, Md. Habibur Rahaman spoke as chief guest.
