Nashid Kamal to perform at Varanasi Festival
Indian organisation “Art beyond borders” is organising its second festival in Varanasi, India, where six artists from Bangladesh - Rafiqun Nabi, Jamal Ahmed, Vinita Karim, Muniruzzaman, Farida Zaman and Sultan Ishtiaque will be participating. Alongside them, noted Nazrul Sangeet exponent Nashid Kamal will also be performing at the festival. There will be participants from both India and Nepal.
Organiser Sandhya Singh Parmar hopes that it shall soon turn into a SAARC event.
Nashid Kamal will be singing Nazrul songs, Bangladeshi folk, Hindi bhajans and semi-classical numbers as well as Urdu ghazals on September 19 in the ghaats of Varanasi, where the festival will be held.
Nashid Kamal, an eminent cultural personality, received the Nazrul Institute award in 2013 for music and translation. She has 15 albums to her credit, ten of which are of Nazrul Sangeet.
