Celebrating Life fest at CU
The “Celebrating Life” festival, jointly organised by The Daily Star and Standard Chartered Bank was held at Chittagong University (CU) campus on Thursday.
CU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the daylong programme as chief guest while Social Science Faculty Dean Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed was present as special guest.
While addressing the programme, the CU VC thanked the organisers for arranging such an innovative programme saying it would help the students to develop their latent creative skills in the field of photography, film and lyrics writing, and urged them to enjoy their life through celebration.
As part of the programme, a photography exhibition was held at CU Social Science Faculty premises where a total of 21 photographs from different professional and amateur photographers were displayed.
The last attraction of the festival was the performance of popular Dhaka-based band Lalon.
The band, famous for its fusion music with a touch of ethnicity and a dash of western influences, mesmerised the students of the university with their melodious tune.
More than three thousands music enthusiasts of the university thronged at the Social Science Faculty Auditorium and jam-packed it to enjoy the performance of the rock band, hours before the show even started.
The wait ended when Lalon came to the stage and started their performance with their famous song “Taal Tomal”.
They kept the audience captivated rendering “Somoy Gele”, “Khepa”, “Gurur Choron” and “Opaar”.
The show wrapped up with their popular song “Pagol”.
Star Showbiz & Anandadhara Editor and Festival director of Celebrating Life, Rafi Hossain delivered the welcome speech while Bitopi Das Chowdhury, Head of Corporate Affairs, Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh was also present among others at the cultural event.
