Suzanne Bernert playing Sonia Gandhi
Anupam Kher-starrer Indian film “The Accidental Prime Minister” will star German actor Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi, reports Times of India.
The movie is based on Sanjay Baru's book of the same name, which will see German-born actor Suzanne Bernert in the role of former Congress chief. Anupam Kher plays the former Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh.
The film is being made by debutante director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, and will also see stars Akshaye Khanna as political commentator Sanjay Baru. The role of Priyanka Gandhi will be played by Aahana Kumra of the “Lipstick Under My Burkha” fame. The film went on floors in London on April 5, and is slated for a December 21 release.
Suzanne shared the latest development about the film on her Twitter handle.
Before doing the movie “The Accidental Prime Minister”, Suzanne had played Sonia Gandhi in “Pradhanmantri”. The TV series was hosted by actor-director Shekhar Kapur. While a photo of her as Sonia Gandhi is circulating online, Suzanne clarified on Twitter that it was for the TV series, and in the film she plays India Gandhi at a later period in her life.
The 35-year old German-born actress has worked in several Indian television shows and films, and has worked in a mix of Indian languages.
