75th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore

District Shilpakala Academy, Barisal, staged a play “Surak” on the occasion of the 75th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at Ashwini Kumar Hall in Barisal City on August 7 and 8.

“Surak” is written by Sahaman Maisan. The direction and planning is by Hasanur Rashid Maksud.

The play is set in Akhitara, a village in Bangladesh. The story focuses on the discrimination of the girl child.

“This was a totally experimental play about a serious social issue,” said Maksud. “The main theme is about cruelty and humanity,” he added.
