SSC exams to begin on September 15
Education Minister Dipu Moni yesterday advised the candidates of SSC and its equivalent examinations to be prepared for a tight exam schedule this year.
Announcing the schedule at a press briefing at the Secretariat, she said the breaks between exams will be shorter than before.
The SSC and equivalent exams will begin on September 15, while HSC and equivalent exams will take place in November, the minister said, adding all exams will be held on full syllabuses.
"We wanted to begin the examinations in mid-August. As there is a possibility of another spell of floods that month, we have decided to hold them in September instead."
About the flood situation in Sylhet, she said, "Some educational institutions there are still facing some problems. We will be able to provide textbooks to the students of the flood-hit districts by July 24."
At least 683 sets of textbooks will be distributed in Sylhet district, and 10,586 books in Sunamganj.
Saying the ministry has been trying to gradually bring the exam schedules to back the first quarter of the year, like during pre-pandemic times, she said, "We will be able to hold SSC exams in February in 2023."
About whether the recent spike in Covid cases may lead to another shutdown of schools, Dipu Moni said the government has no such plans right now.
