47 killed in India road crash
At least 47 people were killed and 11 others injured as a bus fell into a deep gorge in northern Indian state of Uttarakhand today, a senior police official of the country said.
The incident occurred near Gween village when the Ramnagar-bound bus, carrying 58 passengers, fell into a 200-metre deep gorge in 's Pauri district, our New Delhi correspondent reports quoting Jagat Ram Joshi, superintendent of police in Pauri.
Forty-five people died on the spot and 13 others suffered injuries in the mishap, said the police official, adding that later two succumbed to their injuries at a primary health centre.
Rescue operations were carried out by police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, said the SP.
All the bodies have been recovered and the injured rescued from the mangled bus, the police official added.
