Woman gang-raped in her house in Laxmipur

A housewife was gang-raped allegedly by four people in her house in Ramgati upazila's Laximpur early today.

Police arrested a youth, Miraz Hossain, 26, one of the alleged four rapists, after the victim filed a rape case against him and three unknown persons with Ramgati Police Station this afternoon, said police.  

Police are trying to arrest the rest, said Mohammad Solaiman, officer-in-charge of the station.

Quoting the case statement, the OC told our Noakhali correspondent that Miraz and three others stormed into the victim's house around 2:30am. They broke the door and confined other members of the victim's family to another room, tying their hands and feet.

They later raped the woman and beat her up as she protested.

They also looted money and valuable goods, including gold ornaments.

Hearing her screams, neighbours rescued the victim and family members.

The four accused raped the woman over a previous enmity, OC Solaiman further said, quoting the case statement.

Dr Anwar Hossain, resident medical officer of Laxmipur Sadar Hospital, said the rape victim is receiving treatment at the hospital with head injuries.
