INFOCOM held in Kolkata
The three-day event, INFOCOM, one of the largest assemblies of tech professionals, marketers, corporate leaders, academics, visionaries, and policymakers, took place this year at ITC Sonar, Kolkata.
INFOCOM is an initiative by Ananda Bazar Patrika. The platform was launched in 2002. This year, Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal inaugurated INFOCOM. The theme this year was winning in the Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) World. As the world goes digital and technology keeps defining the new way of life, many organisations are struggling to figure out how they should go digital and face up to the digital disruption challenge that is happening in their respective industries. The bigger challenge is that this world has become VUCA. This year, 42 delegates from Bangladesh attended INFOCOM, led by Md Muiz Tasnim Taqui, Associate Vice President, Ernst & Young LLP.
Addressing the ever-growing digital connectivity and the treats imposed on people's digital identities, a session, titled 'Preserving your Digital Identity - Threats and Measure', which was held over a panel discussion consisting of professionals from different fields.
Harish Agarwal, Partner at Ernst & Young LLP, moderated the session. He shared how terrifying some of his experiences were, when it came to shielding his data. For instance, a digital identity was created on his Google Maps, without him doing anything.
Sanjay Prasad, CIO at RPSG CESC Power Group shed light on how global advancements are changing the digital landscape. He spoke about how the combination of digital identities with information and devices can be a vital component to maintain.
The response from the crowd was invigorating as the panel participants spoke about the practices of perpetuating digital identities accurately. Alluding to societal concerns everyone faces when it comes to maintaining certain norms, the panel discussion turned out to be vibrant.
A Shuju Rawther, EVP - Technology at IIFL Finance Ltd shared a story about a businessman who is a victim of digital fraudulence. He focused on the importance of not being ignorant towards sustaining our privacy.
Md Tajdin Hassan, the Head of Marketing at The Daily Star talked about how important it is to build up a culture in organisations to ensure a state of openness, as it can be beneficial to customers and businesses. "Building up that open culture ensures transparency," he said.
Sandeep Sengupta, Founder and Director of ISOAH Data Securities shared his insights on the significance of conserving passwords correctly to circumvent misuse of data.
