AMAL Foundation reaches underprivileged communities with ‘Rukhbo Corona’
To help the underprivileged communities, AMAL Foundation, has been providing food and basic healthcare since the country went into isolation through their initiative 'Rukhbo Corona'. It is a social organisation working to stop child marriage and domestic violence alongside providing free healthcare facilities in rural regions, founded by Esrat Karim.
So far, the organisation has distributed food boxes to over a thousand underprivileged families in five districts -- Narayanganj, Bogura, Cox's Bazar, Faridpur and Dhaka. They have also set hand washing points, consisting of two sinks, clean water and soap, at different public places in the above stated regions to ensure cleanliness.
Over 400 volunteers are working actively everyday with AMAL in this project. They are also providing food to stray animals. "We have to fight and win against COVID-19 and we will only be able to defeat it if we help and support each other," mentions Esrat Karim, who was featured as one of the social reformers in Forbes' 30 under 30 Asia Social Entrepreneurs 2020 list. "I believe, with a bit of collaboration, sacrifice, and patience, things will get better and we will be working until it does."
AMAL Foundation plans to reach other districts soon. "Anyone who wants to help us or join us as a volunteer can reach us through our official Facebook page. Also, do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need our support," concludes Esrat.
