Garment workers protests
Protests over the last week in Savar, Gazipur, and Uttara show that garment workers are unsatisfied with the 'discriminatory' wage board declared last year, shortly before the elections. Where workers demanded Tk 16,000 as minimum wage, they received only half that—Tk 8,000. Their demands deserve to be heard and their protests held, without police brutality and factory management retaliation. That said, the protestors should not resort to torching vehicles as a form of protest.
