30 families keeping up with the tradition of making homemade muri
Muri or puffed rice is usually eaten as breakfast or tea time snack all over Bangladesh. It is particularly important during the holy month of Ramadan.
While there are many factories and large-scale production of puffed rice now, there are at least 30 families in Kaliakoir and Sreepur upazila of Gazipur who produce homemade muri.
There is a growing demand for the product but its makers say that while sales are increasing the majority of the earnings end up going to the middleman.
