Tigers fell one short, Windies two
ICC has fined both Bangladesh and West Indies for slow over-rate in the high-scoring second T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Bangladesh were one over short while West Indies fell two overs short. Captain Shakib Al Hasan was fined 20 percent of his match fee while his opposite counterpart Carlos Brathwaite faced a 40 percent fine (double due to the number of overs). The rest of the Tigers squad were fined 10 percent of their match fees while Windies players will be fined 20 percent.
If Bangladesh commit another minor over-rate breach in a T20I within 12 months of this offence with Shakib as captain, it will be deemed to be a second offence by Shakib and he will face a suspension. Both captains pleaded guilty to the offences after the end of the match and accepted the proposed sanctions, so there was no need for formal hearings.
The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Tanvir Ahmed and Gazi Sohail, third umpire Saikat Sharfuddoula, and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman.
