‘Playing our best cricket since we’re going home soon'
Shai Hope struck the third fastest T20I fifty as Windies overpowered Bangladesh by eight wickets after Sheldon Cottrrell's four for 29 had seen the hosts bowled out for 129. Speaking on this incredible win, Cottrell suggested that the players are happier with the series coming to an end soon and that is why they are playing their best cricket.
It might sound like an unconventional statement but the tour has been a difficult one so far for the visitors and they are finally able to play in their favourite format.
"As I said it's a different format and most of the guys are looking forward to go home," the paceman said.
"It's a [step] closer to home and so we play our best cricket now. We just come together, it was just cricket on the day for me," he added.
Bangladesh top-order played badly timed shots against the faster ballers to lose their wickets and despite scoring runs, the Tigers innings never gained momentum. Cottrell said that Windies were going with the flow in their favourite format and looking to bowl aggressively.
"Our plan was not to bowl short balls. Our plan in this game was to just bowl aggressive in whatever we do, whether bowling Yorkers, length ball, short ball. Just to bowl aggressive, and it paid off," he concluded.
