Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah unsold at IPL auction 2019
Bangladesh batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad found no takers during the IPL auction today. Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah's names were registered prior to the auction. However, the duo may still find teams when the unsold players are put up for auction later.
The upcoming edition of the IPL -- the 12th edition of the money-spinning T20 league, is scheduled to start on March 29 next year (2019). Shakib Al Hasan was retained by the Hyderabad Sunrisers while Mustafizur Rahman's name was not registered by the Bangladesh cricket board after he was released by the Mumbai Indians this season.
Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah both has a base price of 50 lakh Rupees. Top names like Yuvraj Singh, Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill had also remained unsold after the first round of the IPL auction. Last year's most expensive Indian Jaydev Unadkat was once again snapped up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8.40 crore – drop from Rs 11.5 crore the last time around.
Tamil Nadu mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, without any prior IPL experience, joined Unadkat as the most expensive buys so far during the auctions.
Stars such as New Zealand's Corey Anderson, Luke Ronchi and South Africa's Hashim Amla also went unsold. IPL 2019 Auction moved from its regular programming of being stretched over two days and the auctions will end today.
