Mushfiqur on the agenda
Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will be up for grabs at the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) players' draft, which will be held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden today.
The draft will be televised on GTV from 12:00pm.
The Rajshahi Kings opted to release Mushfiqur after his relatively poor performances in the past season, when he averaged 15.50 over 11 innings.
However, the batsman burst into life at the Asia Cup earlier this year and powered Bangladesh to wins with a 144 against Sri Lanka followed by a 99-run knock against Pakistan.
Given his recent form, it would be no surprise to see him as the biggest draw at the draft.
However, with slots for four overseas players in the starting eleven, there are plenty of other talents to look out for as well.
Shahid Afridi, one of only three A+ grade foreigners, will be available. The other A+ players are South Africa's leg-spinner Imran Tahir and hard-hitting West Indies opener Evin Lewis.
Pakistan's Mohammad Hafeez, Misbahul Haq and Mohammad Abbas, who blitzed Australia in the recent Tests, are also part of the draft but their availability is unconfirmed.
Sri Lanka's Thisara Perera and Lasith Malina will also feature alongside West Indies' Darren Bravo
Meanwhile, the Sylhet Sixers on Saturday confirmed that they had signed Australia's David Warner, who was handed a one-year international cricket ban after the ball tampering fiasco against South Africa in March.
