Kings defuse Shakib’s Dynamites
Marshall Ayub came up with the runs and Arafat Sunny came up with the wickets as Dhaka slumped to their first loss of the tournament against Mehedi Miraz's Rajshahi Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) today.
All the Kings men, who had taken the field with their mother's name on the back of their jersey's to 'showcase the heart of kings', denied Dynamites their fifth straight win on the trot and picked up their third win in the tournament.
Batting first, Rajshahi put on 136 for six thanks to Ayub's 31-ball 45, laced with three fours and two sixes. Shahriar Nafees, who starred in the lineup in place of Soumya Sarkar contributed with 25.
Sunil Narine bagged three wickets for Dhaka as Kings failed to capitalize on a good start. After the exchange, Dhaka slumped to 3 for 23 as the Rajshahi bowlers Isuru Udana, Sunny and Miraz began to make their mark. Then Shakib (13) fell to Arafat Sunny, who finished with three wickets and conceded just eight runs off four overs. Mustafizur bowled economically and with Dynamites needing 27 off the last over, Fizz conceeded just six runs and picked up a wicket as Kings won by 20 runs.
