‘Are you going to console me over my duck?’
Thirty-year-old Fazle Mahmud Rabbi, who made his international debut with a duck against Zimbabwe in the first ODI in Mirpur on Sunday has a unique record of scoring ducks even in his domestic debuts.
It was obvious that since getting out on a duck on his debut the cricketer has been receiving a lot of messages over his poor debut and he was asked to forget the incident and look forward.
Interestingly Fazle does not even thinking about his duck in his international debut as he greeted this reporter with a smile and immediately said, "Are you also going to console me over my duck on debut?
The left hander then went on to elaborate what he has been going through since the first ODI and added, "I have deactivated my facebook, instagram and all other social networking profiles and also thinking of switching off my mobile too. Everyone seems to be more disappointed and hurt over my duck than me but look I am so relaxed."
It was not the first time that Fazle was dismissed on a duck on his debut as he has gone through the situation in the past as well.
Back in 2004 he made his List A debut for Barishal against Rajshahi in the one-day format of the National Cricket League where he was dismissed for a duck.
Even when he made his first-class debut in the same year he was out without troubling the score. The left hander also faced the same fate on his Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) debut against Khulna Titans in 2016 where he was out on a duck playing for Barisal Bulls.
A matured Fazle however was able to overcome from the poor starts in domestic circuit which earned him a place in the national team and perhaps he sees the positive out of it in international cricket in the coming days.
