'Dhaka has the edge in battle of all-rounders'
BPL finalists Dhaka Dynamites and Comilla Victorians boast a host of world-class all-rounders in the side. The final could be decided by the likes of Kieron Pollard or a Thisara Perera and both Comilla coach Mohammad Salahuddin and captain Imrul Kayes spoke of the all-rounders in the two side. Comilla coach however said Shakib Al Hasan's Dhaka have the advantage when it comes to the battle of foreign all-rounders.
"I think all-rounders play a huge role in team balance. Dhaka team has the advantage in this regard since they have three to four all-rounders and can play extra two players," Salahuddin said.
If Dhaka has Pollard, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, Comilla too have that advantage as they can play Shahid Afridi, Thisara Perera.
Local all-rounder Saifuddin starred with four wickets in the thriller against Dhaka to seal a one-run victory in the last encounter between the two sides. Salahuddin said that his side too has the right players in the right places. Having won both their matches against Dhaka in this edition of the tournament, his side has the momentum going in to the final but he laid emphasis on locals' performance. "The locals have to perform in this kind of tournaments," he said.
"Maybe the performances from our all-rounders did not catch the eye that much throughout the tournament, but our team combination was very good. The best thing is our local players are performing," he said.
Captain Imrul put emphasis on their trio of all-rounders. "We have Saifuddin, Afridi and Perera. Saifuddin has been performing from the beginning. I think their performance will be crucial," he concluded.
