Shimul-Chaiti’s Silver Jubilee

For the first time ever in Bangladesh, an advertisement has been made with the same cast who had been featured 21 years back for the same brand. The advertisement is a follow-up of a Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited advert starring Monir Khan Shimul and Lamia Tabassum Chaiti, reprising the roles they played in more than two decades ago. The two actors gained stardom after the first ad was released in 1998, which made them a very popular duo in the 90s. With their slogan of “Bhalobashar Rong”, they became a beloved couple among audiences across the country. Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited has recently made a sequel for the commercial, which shows the 25th anniversary of the couple. As 25 years have passed, a lot of things have changed; a lot of new faces have been added to their family. Miss World Bangladesh 2018, Oishi played the role of the couple’s daughter, while Saad played the role of their son. Adnan Al Rajeev directed the advertisement. Shimul said, “I really enjoyed working on an advertisement for Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited again. I’m really picky about the projects I do, so I don’t do too many. But, I am planning on doing more in the future. I really loved working with Chaiti again. I feel like she is more beautiful now; it’s impossible to tell that she has aged since the first advertisement. I have to give credit to Unitrend Limited for our onscreen reunion.” Regarding the advertisement, Chaiti said, “I don’t think any advertisement in Bangladesh has a sequel, and even if it does, not with the original cast members. I am very grateful to Unitrend Limited for making this happen.”
