Darkness that never left
With its mega-talented cast and riveting storyline, Stranger Things is nothing short of a masterpiece. This Netflix Original Series was initially released in 2015 and met with much-deserved critical acclaim. It followed with an equally engrossing second season in 2017, which we can attribute to the mastery of the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers. For four years, we have followed the stories of the residents of Hawkins, Indiana. We navigated the winding roads with Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), and Will (Noah Schnapp); we watched helplessly as Will got abducted; we met Eleven and found out about her brutal past; and we watched them grow and we watched them fight.
The second installation introduced us to Max (Sadie Sink) and her step-brother Billy (Dacre Montgomery). Maya Thurman-Hawke joined the cast for the third season. She plays a character named Robin who discovers a dark secret in Hawkins. On July 4, 2019, Stranger Things 3 was released, ushering in new faces, new plights, and the same terrifying monster. In Season Two, Eleven had used her powers to close the gate to the Upside-Down that would end the horrors wrought by the Mind-Flayer once and for all.
Unfortunately for our heroes, a return to regular teenage lives just isn’t that simple. The Demogorgon look-alike is back, but we can rest assured that these kids have new tricks up their sleeves. With the help of some friendly neighbourhood adults like Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Police Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour), there is nothing that can stop them from saving their beloved town. This time Eleven and her crew are ready to blaze the darkeness out of the town, once and for all.
