Beholding the legacy of 65 years with solemn appreciation, Scintilla Science Club from St. Joseph Higher Secondary School is going to commence its 66th edition of annual science festival from March 16 to 18.

The 66th Annual Science Fest will feature a variety of events including Project Display, Scrapbook Display, Wall Magazine Exhibition, Quizzes, Olympiads, Scientific Idea Presentation, Extempore Speech, Robo Rumble, Sci-fi Story Writing and more.

For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel.

The selected theme for this year is "Increasing the Use of Renewable Energy for Future Sustainability". It was chosen with a view to refine the inventive concepts of the participants and center it to the efficient use of different renewable energy resources. Thus, such ideas would comply with some fundamental solutions to the problems associated with the production and consumption of energy. And these ideas, if implemented, may also create an impact on the socio-economic aspects of energy utilization and ultimately show a path to build a sustainable future.

Every year, around 2000 participants from more than 30 reputed institutions of Dhaka city participate and more than 5,000 visitors from different youth communities visit this science fair. The thrill and enthusiasm among the participants give heart to this grand fest. They showcase their talents in front of the visitors, guests, and audience and await the recognition they deserve.

The 500+ responses in the olympiads were astounding. The submission based events of this fest, such as Wall Magazine, Scrapbook Display, and Sci-fi Poster Designing are in an on-going phase and those are getting many responses as well.

This three-day long science festival will contain diverse activities and prominent highlights unique to each day. All the project setups, Wall-Magazine and Poster submissions will be taking place on March 15. The first day of the fest will start with the opening ceremony where Prof. Nehal Ahmed, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education of Bangladesh, will be the Chief Guest and Imran Rahman, ULAB VC will be the Special Guest will inaugurate the ceremony. Right after that, Project Display, Exhibitions, Robotics Events, Idea Presentation will take place simultaneously.

The second day is poised to be a standout day as well. The final day will be for the final judgements, stage presentation on scientific topics, and a resplendent closing ceremony.

Scintilla Science Club also publishes a yearly science magazine named "Nucleus" consisting of the year-long activities of the club, highlights of the fest, articles, science fictions, research work, surveys, reviews, and many other things, which would be unveiled during the closing ceremony. The club eagerly anticipates organising a spectacular fest aiming to give the participants an amazing experience.
