Ruman brings archery gold

Ruman Sana became the third Bangladeshi archer to win a gold medal in an international tournament after Sajjad Hossain and Emdadul Haque Milon as the archer from Bangladesh Ansar beat Russia's Tybekdorzhiev Bair 6-4 in men's Recurve Bow final of the First Asian Grand Prix 2014 in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.
The 18-year old archer, who has been receiving intensive training from a Korean coach for the last two months under the programme of Bangladesh Olympic Association, brought laurel for the country four years' since Milon had won a gold medal in the Asian Youth Olympic Continental Qualifiers in Indonesia.
The student of class XII, also a champion of 2013 Bangladesh Games, had to fight hard against his Russian opponent, who went ahead in the first round before forcing a tie in the next round. However, Ruman staged a strong comeback in the third round to level the set at 3-3. Ruman then took the game away from the Russian and won the event 6-4.
This is the first international gold medal in the five-year career of Ruman, who is known to his peers as Sujan. Ruman had earlier participated in two international meets – Asian Archery Championship in Iran and Grand Prix Championship in Thailand.
