3 Rohingyas held with Bangladeshi passport in Chattogram
Police today claimed to have detained three Rohingya people with Bangladesh passports from Kattali area of Chattogram city last night.
The detainees Yusuf, 25, his younger brother Md Musa, 20 and Md Aziz 25, have been residing at Thaingkhali Rohingya camp in Ukhia since 2017, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Akbar Shah Police Station.
Acting on a tip off, a police team carried out a raid in Kattali area under Akbar Shah Police Station around 11:30pm and detained the Rohingya people while they were attempting to go to Turkish Embassy in Dhaka for visa purpose, the OC said.
During primary interrogation, the detainees confessed that they managed the Bangladeshi passports showing themselves residents of Shenbagh area of Noakhali with the help of a Rohingya and a Bangladesh brokers.
Besides, Chattogram Divisional Passport officials detained a Rohingya youth Safiul Hair, 24, while he was trying to manage Bangladeshi passport.
Introducing himself as an inhabitant of Fatickchari upazila of Chattogram, Safiul submitted his documents including a NID to the passport office, Abu Sayeed, deputy director of the passport office said.
