India gives fresh relief for Rohingya refugees
Neighbouring India today handed over a fresh consignment of aid of mostly emergency food items and monsoon protection for the Rohingya refugees sheltered in Cox's Bazar.
Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, Harsh Vardhan Shringla handed over 373 metric tonnes of food items and monsoon protection equipment to Disaster Management & Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya at Chittagong today, says a press release of Indian High Commission.
The consignment includes 104 MT of milk powder, 102 MT of dried fish, 61 MT of baby food, 50,000 raincoats; and 50,000 pairs of gum boots, the press release says.
"India has always stood by Bangladesh in times of need. Ours is a relationship based on trust, friendship and shared martyrdom that goes beyond strategic partnership," said Shringla.
The consignment of aid was carried on board INS Airavat, which sailed from Vishakhapatnam and reached Chittagong port yesterday under Indian Commander A Ashok.
