Home minister criticises Myanmar
Home Minister Ashaduzzaman Khan today came down heavily on Myanmar over the repatriation of one Rohingya family.
"It's nothing but a farce. The repatriated Rohingya family did not reach Bangladesh as they used to live on no-man's land," Kamal said while talking to reporters this noon.
Claiming that at least 6,000 Rohingya families are still living on the no-man's land between the two countries, Kamal said Myanmar has repatriated only one single family.
"I hope, Myanmar will repatriate all the families within the possible shortest time," the home minister said. He added, around 11 lakh Rohingyas have so far intruded into Bangladesh.
"We have sent the number to Myanmar authority after completing their biometric registration," he added.
Myanmar today in a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the government's Information Committee said it has "repatriated" the first family of Rohingya refugees, among the 700,000 who fled a brutal crackdown in its Rakhine state.
Kamal was speaking to reporters after a meeting at the Dhaka Chamber with leaders of the business community to discuss strategies to keep prices of the daily essentials in tolerable level during the month of Ramadan.
