IUB holds Freshers’ Orientation for Summer 2021
Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a virtual orientation for freshers' on 12 June 2021 for the students who have enrolled in the Summer 2021 Semester. Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Professor Dr Md. Abu Taher was present as the Chief Guest. Professor Taher encouraged the students to use their time effectively so that they can strengthen their acumen and contribute to the development of the country. He shared a few titles of life-changing books such as The Unfinished Memoirs, The Audacity of Hope, Dreams from My Father, The long Struggle for Freedom, From Two Economies to Two Nations: My Journey to Bangladesh. He recommended the students to read these books and understand and learn from them. He hoped that the new generation, especially the students, will play a vital role in making the Father of Nation's dream come into a reality.
Addressing the freshers, Professor Tanweer Hasan, the Vice-Chancellor of IUB said that while at IUB the students are privileged to learn new things, acquire new knowledge, develop analytical skills, and improve personal attributes that will prepare them for the future. He added that "at IUB we want to turn you into a lifelong learner, we want to make sure that you have the right aptitude, training, and emotional ability to face the new world specifically unleashed by technology."
IUB Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan highlighted the special features of the tertiary level education at IUB. He mentioned that IUB has the best professors in the country. Highlighting the special features of IUB, he requested everyone to make the best use of the facilities, make judicious use of the freedom and independence that IUB provides.
Dr Samiul Parvez Ahmed, Interim Dean, School of Business & Entrepreneurship; Prof. Dr Taiabur Rahman, Dean, School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences; Prof. J.M.A. Hannan, Dean, School of Pharmacy and Public Health (SPPH); Prof. Dr Shah M. Faruque, Dean, School of Environment & Life Sciences and Dr Habib Bin Muzaffar, Dean (Acting), School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences also shared their thoughts and specific features of their respective Schools with the Freshers.
Brig Gen (Retd) Md. Anwarul Islam, Registrar, IUB presented the overview of the Summer 2021 Semester and during the second phase of the program, he also shared the essential rules and regulations of IUB with the newly enrolled students and their parents and guardians. Mr. Mahfuz Ahmed, Deputy Director & Head, CITS conducted an online training session on fundamental issues of Google Classroom.
The event was moderated by Ms. Lima Choudhury, Deputy Director and Head, Admission & Financial Aid Office, IUB.
The freshers, their parents, guardians, members of the faculty and administration of IUB and a large number of audience joined the event that was broadcasted LIVE through IUB Facebook page & YouTube channel.
