Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust - BANCAT launched its fundraising campaign in light of the month of giving. Under the campaign, BANCAT will be raising funds for treatment of cancer patients from the underserved community of Bangladesh.

It was a virtual fundraising attended by Lady Syeda Sarwat Abed, Founder and Director of the BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), BRAC University, Sara Zaker, media personality, Syed Mahbubur Rahman, MD & CEO, Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. and such who spoke and shared their stories on how cancer have impacted their lives. Shehwar and Maria, international content creator, joined the event from London pledging to raise fund and awareness for BANCAT.

Rokia Afzal Rahman, President of BANCAT conveyed her gratitude to all present for supporting the fight against cancer. Anis A. Khan, Advisor to the Board, Tyser Risk Management (Bangladesh) Ltd. and Chairperson, Valor of Bangladesh encouraged to give Zakat not only in Ramadan but all throughout the year.

The genesis of BANCAT started with one individual – a cancer survivor. It was during his own treatment that he realised the prevalence of this silent killer in Bangladesh, how oblivious people were to this scourge, and the sheer lack of awareness, policy, and resources that were allocated towards cancer treatments. Yet, there is hardly a family that hasn't experienced a death from cancer. The survivor – having been given a second chance in his life – made it his life's mission to change this landscape. He thus, set out to form BANCAT – an organization solely dedicated to fight cancer in all avenues. BANCAT believes that we all are born with the ability to change someone's life and hence the motto: it takes one to save one. Let BANCAT be the bridge between YOU and cancer patients in need of you.

Doctor and medicine of a cancer patient for a month: BDT 5,000

Chemotherapy of a cancer patient: BDT 3,000

Sponsor a cancer patient for a month: BDT 10,000

Staples for a cancer patient's family: BDT 1,000
