The signatories are: Professor Imazuddin Ahmed, Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Prof Mahbub Ullah, Prof Anwarullah Chowdhury, Prof Mostahidur Rahman, Alamgir Mohiuddin, Dr MA Aziz, Dr Rezwan Siddique, Prof ZN Hamida Khatun, Dr Akhtar Hossain Khan, Dr Lutfar Rahman and Abdul Hai Siddique.
Stressing the need for immediate better treatment of Khaleda Zia, the group of individuals also said that the government should take effective measures for Khaleda’s treatment and immediate release from the jail.
Earlier today, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed at a press conference renewed his party's demand for ensuring her treatment at United Hospital in the capital following news that she might have suffered a mild stroke.
Khaleda Zia was sent to jail on February 8 after being convicted in a corruption case.
