PM Hasina has surpassed Hitler: Mosharraf
BNP Standing Committee Member Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain today blasted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for placing Bangladesh atop the list of autocratic countries.
"We have no expectation from the prime minister as she has surpassed the world's top ranking autocratic ruler Hitlar (Adolf Hitler of Germany)," Mosharraf said.
Referring to the report, Mosharraf said Bangladesh now coach on how to establish autocratic rule in a country by stifling democracy.
German-based think-tank Bertelsmann Stiftung on March 23, published a report saying Bangladesh is among five countries that no longer meet minimum standards for democracy and are now under autocratic rule.
He was addressing a programme marking the Independence Day, organised by a pro-BNP platform Shwadhinata Forum at the National Press club this noon.
About Bangladesh's graduation from the chart of the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), the BNP leader said the government is spreading lies in this regard.
The United Nations did not declare Bangladesh as a developing country, rather it said there are some criteria for Bangladesh's graduation to a developing country, he added.
Bangladesh may be turned into a developing country if the criteria is fulfilled by the next six years, he added.
