Oikyafront leaders to go Sylhet on Oct 24
Jatiya Oikyafront leaders are determined to visit Sylhet city on October 24 even if they do not get permission from the authorities concern, Gono Forum General Secretary Mostafa Mahsin Montu said today.
The Oikyafront leaders took the decision in a meeting held at Nagorik Oikya leader Mobarak Khan’s Dhanmondi residence this evening, Mantu told reporters after emerging from the meeting.
During the visit, the Jatiya Oikyafront leaders will visit the shrines of Hazrat Shah Jalal (RA) and Shah Paran (RA0) and offer prayer seeking peace and prosperity of the country and its people, he said.
The top leaders decided to hold a view exchange meeting with civil society members and professionals on October 26, but the venue of the programme has yet been finalised, he said.
Earlier, they held a meeting with the diplomats on Thursday at a city hotel where they briefed the diplomats about their seven-point demand and 11-point goal to hold the upcoming general election in a free, fair and inclusive manner.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police yesterday denied the platform permission for holding a rally in the city on October 23 on security ground.
