Khaleda doesn't want to come to court: ACC lawyer

Chief Prosecutor of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Mosharraf Hossain Kajal today told a Dhaka court that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia does not want to come to the court.

Khaleda’s lawyers sometimes meet her at jail and she does everything as per the suggestions given by the lawyers, the ACC lawyer said.

When defence submitted a petition seeking an extension of Khaleda’s bail in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case, the lawyers quoting the custody warrant said the jail authorities could not produce her before the court as she was “physically unfit to move”.

At that point, the chief prosecutor came up with his comment before the Special Judge Court-5 set up at Alia Madrassa in the Dhaka's Bakshibazar area.

After the hearing, the court today extended till June 4 the bail of Khaleda in the corruption case.

Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the Special Judge Court -5 allowed the extension following a petition moved by Khaleda’s lawyer Sanaullah Miah.
