Noman among 8 BNP men held in Gazipur
BNP Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman and seven other leaders and activists of the party were detained by law enforcers in Gazipur this afternoon.
Police detained them while they were coming out of BNP-nominated Gazipur City Corporation mayor candidate Hassan Uddin Sarkar's Tongi residence around 5:30pm, our local correspondent reports quoting the BNP mayoral runner.
Sarkar was holding a press conference at his residence around 4:00pm with the presence of the BNP men on the overall situation of the Gazipur city polls which was scheduled for May 15.
While talking to The Daily Star, Gazipur additional superintendent of police Sheikh Russel said around eight to nine BNP men were detained on charge of vandalising public transports and creating disturbance on the street in the city area.
Besides, Fazlul Haque Milon, president of Gazipur district unit of BNP alleged police detained at least 15 BNP men including Noman “without any logical ground”.
