Shakti Foundation stands beside poor, flood affected people
Inspired by the glory of sacrifice on the Eid-ul-Azha, Shakti Foundation came forward to make the occasion more meaningful this year due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and the flood across the country.
As part of that, one lakh destitute people were fed on the occasion of Eid with the funds formed by the Eid bonus of the employees of Shakti Foundation, donations made by the generous individuals from the society and the foundation's own funds.
With a strong desire to share the joy of Eid with the people by standing beside them, the Shakti Foundation staff took this initiative called, "Ek lokkho ahar, Ek lokkho Hashi" on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Robi Telecom was media partner of their campaign.
As part of the initiative, food was delivered to 396 branches of Shakti Foundation across the country in the orphanages, orphanages for disabled children, old age homes and ashrams for helpless women, among others.
The programme was also carried out in flood affected areas of Tangail, Gazipur, Jamalpur, Gopalganj, Munshiganj, Pabna, Sylhet, Sunamganj and other locations with branch offices of Shakti Foundation.
Food was distributed among the helpless people who took refuge in various shelters and on the embankment in the flood affected areas.
The programme also reached out to the poor people who have lost their income due to coronavirus outbreak.
Keeping in mind the true significance of sacrifice, Shakti Foundation involved everyone who wanted to participate from within the country and abroad in this initiative out of a desire to do something for the people during this trying times.
Shakti Foundation expresses its gratitude to all for their spontaneous response and hard work in successfully implementing this initiative of giving a meal to one lakh people.
The foundation hopes to implement similar projects on a larger scale in the future.
