A case was filed with Kotwali Model Police Station yesterday under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act in connection with the rape incident of a 30-year-old  woman in Teghoria village under Jashore sadar upazilla.

The victim's father filed the case accusing Shahinur Rahman, 40, son of Golam Bari, a resident of the same village, for raping his daughter, who is intellectually disabled, according to the case statement.

The case statement said the woman paid a visit to her brother's house on December 5.

"As there was no one in the house, the accused Shahinur took advantage of the situation and raped the intellectually-disabled woman," said the case statement.

The victim's family came to know of the matter on March 31 and filed the case against Shahinur yesterday.

The woman gave a statement before the court of the judicial magistrate in this connection.

Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, said they are trying to nab the accused.
