- A 50-man team of fighters, led by Habibur Rahman, attack Pakistan military settlement in Sunamganj Mahakumar Nikli Police Station. One freedom fighter embrace martyrdom. 25 rifles and huge ammunition seized.
- Four Pakistan military men are killed in a courageous drive of the Muktibahini fighters in Kamalpur under sector 2.
- Captain Hafizuddin-led Zid force’s company B attack and destroy Champaran Tea Factory in Sylhet.
- A time-bomb explosion kill seven people, injure 12 and guts nine vehicles in Dhaka’s Motijheel near the EPIDC building.
- Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, speaking at a programme in New Delhi, says a dangerous situation is prevailing in the India-Pakistan border. India is trying everything possible to avert war.
- President Yahya says in Rawalpindi that he does not want war with India. However, if India continues to infiltrate Pakistan with Bangali guerillas and attack, then he will avenge it. India’s interference in internal affairs will not be tolerated, he says.
- Lt Gen Niazi visits the Razakar training centre in Pabna and says that death is inevitable for humans, but the Razakars would undoubtedly be treated under the grace of the almighty if they embrace martyrdom fighting the enemies.
- A government announcement says Pakistan air force chief Air Marshal A Rahim complains and protests Indian air attacks to his Indian counterpart and threatens retaliation.
- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Mawlana Moududi, in a statement, urges the rich to help those in need in the face of massacre of the miscreants (freedom fighters).
