Bangladeshi migrant worker found dead in Lebanon home
Lebanon police recovered a Bangladeshi female migrant worker's body from a room in Adonis area of Jounieh district yesterday (May 16, 2022).
The deceased was identified as Momtaz. Her body is currently being kept in the mortuary of a nearby hospital for postmortem.
Police have detained a Bangladeshi youth, Mahmudul Hasan Topu, in connection with the incident.
According to acquaintances, Momtaz and Topu shared a rented room in the Adonis area for nearly a year.
They had an argument on Sunday (May 15, 2022) night. Topu then left the room. He returned about an hour later, at 11:30pm, to find the door locked from the inside.
Momtaz did not respond to calls from outside. Topu later shattered the back window and entered the room, where he discovered Momtaz's body hanging.
When neighbours found out and informed police, police arrived and took the body for postmortem and Topu for questioning.
Momtaz is said to be from Shariatpur of Bangladesh.
