Syed Haider Ali given attorney general's status
The government yesterday gave the status of an attorney general to Syed Haider Ali, a prosecutor at the International Crimes Tribunals.
Considering the experience and seniority of Haider, law ministry upgraded his previous status of an additional attorney general, to honour him as he has been prosecuting the war crimes cases from March 2010, said ministry sources.
Haider defended the state before the tribunal-1 in the case against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee.
Four prosecutors, including Haider, out of 22 have been given the status of attorney general, said prosecution sources.
