BKSP WIN FOOTBALL CROWN
BKSP were crowned champions in football after a brace from Rohit Sarker, either side of the break, ensured a 2-1 win for them against Barisal in the final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
Rohit opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a placing shot after receiving a cross from fellow striker Ratul Islam. But the lead lasted only three minutes as Barisal's tall forward SM Noman stunned the BKSP goalie with a thunderous strike from 25-yards out.
However, Rohit struck again in the 74th minute heading in a corner kick from an unmarked position to give his side the 2-1 lead which ensured them the crown.
Earlier, Jhenaidah defeated Noakhali by 2-1 goals at the same venue to confirm bronze medal.

FOUR MORE RECORDS IN WEIGHTLIFTING
Four new records were set in weightlifting competition of Bangladesh Games at the National Sports Council Gymnasium yesterday. Faima Akter Moina, Shahria Sultana Shuchi, Mabia Akter Shimanto and Moinul Islam set new national marks yesterday after Hamidul Islam and Mollah Sabira Sultana had set two national records on the previous day.
Faima of Ansar, competing in the 58kg category, lifted a total of 158 kilograms, comfortably beating her previous mark (138kg) set in 2012 national meet. Shichi, also of Ansar, set a new mark lifting 160kg in the 63kg category.
In the men's 85kg category, Mainul broke the record in clean & jerk, lifting 146 kilograms to beat the old mark, set 11 years ago, by one kilogram.
The fourth record came in the women's 53kg category where Shimanto lifted a total of 13 kilograms (60 in snatch, 79 in clean & jerk).
ARMY TAKE KABADDI GOLD
Bangladesh Army emerged new champions in men's kabaddi as they handed a 30-22 defeat on holders Boarder Guard Bangladesh in the 'uninterrupted' final of the Bangladesh Games at the Kabaddi Stadium yesterday.
Bangladesh Army, who were given the final berths on the basis of the referee's report following a brawl between Bangladesh Police and Army in the semifinal, led the way from the outset and dominated the game till the last minute with two creditable 'lona'. It was the first-ever crown for Bangladesh Army since they started playing kabaddi in 1999.
Following two unsavoury incidents, enough security measure was taken yesterday and only approved personnel were allowed inside the stadium, which ensured the final ended in peaceful manner.
CYCLING
Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) dominated the third day of cycling, winning three gold medals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
BJMC won gold in the men's 4000m team pursuit, 20km team time trial and 1500m scratch race while Bangladesh Ansar won gold in women's 4000m scratch race and 2000m team pursuit.
Bangladesh Ansar led the overall table with 10 gold, four silver and seven bronze followed by BJMC who claimed six gold, 12 silver and five bronze medals. The last two events are scheduled to take place today.
SHOOTING
The shooting events ended yesterday with SM Sabbir Hossain of Patuakhali Rifles Club winning the gold medal in skeet event at the Savar Shooting Range.
Iqbal Islam of Gulshan Rifles Club won the silver while Nuruddin of Chittagong Rifles Club bagged the bronze.
Bangladesh Army Shooting Association topped the medal's tally with five gold, three silver and six bronze followed by Dhaka Rifles Club, who grabbed three gold, five silver and two bronze. BKSP became third with one gold and two silver medals.
BASKETBALL
Bangladesh Navy clinched gold medal after defeating Bangladesh Army by 66-59 points in an exciting final at the Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium . Navy led the first-half 33-30.
Khulna became third with a nerve-wrecking 66-65 point win over Board Guard Bangladesh.
