Awami League leader Shamim Osman allegedly assaulted former national footballer Samrat Hossain Emily and threatened him at gunpoint in Narayanganj city yesterday.

AL leader also threatened to shoot him dead brandishing a pistol.
Shamim Osman, however, denied the allegations and accused Emily of "talking nonsense after taking drugs".
Officer-in-Charge Manjur Kader of Narayanganj Model Police said Emily took drugs and vandalised several rickshaws in Narayanganj Club and Chasara area in the city.
"When we asked him of the allegations, he misbehaved with us over the phone. We had detained him for this," he said, adding that they freed Emily upon a request from Narayanganj city AL President Anwar Hossain.
